Según se recoge en la web oficial del añorado cantante y actor británico, Duncan Jones, el hijo mayor de David Bowie, ha comenzado a desarrollar un proyecto denominado Bowie Book Club, mediante el que pretende compartir la pasión que su padre sentía por la lectura a través de una actividad virtual basada en el intercambio de reflexiones y análisis sobre distintas obras pertenecientes al listado de títulos que el artista consideraba imprescindibles y que compartió hace unos años con sus fans.
La propuesta, iniciada en la red social Twitter, se ha iniciado con la lectura de con el título Hawksmoor, del novelista y biografo inglés Peter Ackroyd. Se puede participar a través de los hashtags #BowieBookClub #ReadingIsBrainFood
A modo de homenaje a su padre, el director de cine británico (ganador del premio BAFTA), comenzará a iniciar los primeros comentarios sobre cada uno de los libros seleccionados a partir del próximo 1 de febrero, momento en el que dará comienzo el debate con los lectores. Previamente se ha establecido un periodo de aproximadamente dos meses para leer con calma cada historia y anotar los puntos fundamentales que se quieren analizar junto al coordinador de la idea.
Hawksmoor, la primera novela elegida, es una obra publicada originalmente en 1985 que obtuvo el Premio Whitbread y el Premio de Ficción Guardian. Narra dos historias paralelas ambientadas en la capital británica, que suceden en distintas épocas. Por un lado nos cuenta las andanzas de Nicholas Dyer, un siniestro constructor de iglesias del siglo XVIII que realiza sacrificios humanos, y por otro de Nicholas Hawksmoor, detective en los años 80 del siglo XX, que investiga diversos asesinatos cometidos en esos mismos templos.
Un interesante proyecto perfectamente exportable a cualquier biblioteca que quiera profundizar en los gustos y aficiones lectoras de este u otros artistas relevantes para despertar la curiosidad de los lectores, e incentivar la interacción a través de los perfiles en redes sociales.
