De esta forma, ponen en valor el potencial que los libros y la lectura tienen para mejorar el mundo, además enfatiza la necesidad de adoptar opciones de vida más respetuosas con el medio ambiente.
Tanto el mensaje como el póster, en este caso diseñado por la artista Sandra Elephteriou, fueron seleccionados mediante un concurso nacional en el que participaron destacados autores e ilustradores chipriotas. Para garantizar la imparcialidad, todas las propuestas se enviaron de forma anónima a veinte escuelas de todo el país, y la identidad de sus autores se reveló solo después del recuento final de votos.
Plant stories, and the world will bloom

Once upon a time, a child was born, longing to live better than the heroes of fairy tales—who only lived happily ever after.
The child grew and changed, read, and became Don Quixote, battling windmills; Alice, bringing wonder to life; Robin Hood, saving the forests; a wolf, gathering moon-singing packs.
Years passed, but the world remained untouched by the change once dreamed of.
Yet—the child managed to put together a brand new world within a garden courtyard, filled with everything dear to the heart.
More years passed.
And as books whispered wisdom into the soul, the child knew what had to be done.
When autumn came, the earth was tilled and seeds were planted.
Winter arrived.
The child waited patiently for the white sheath to melt, nurtured by the company of budding books.
Then it was spring. Tender leaves shot out from the stems.
Trunks thickened, branches stretched, buds sprouted.
The child’s soul blossomed, filled with colours and scents.
And summer?
It was the time of boats, sailboats, hot-air balloons, bicycles… the time of travelling far and wide!
Now the child knew—without a doubt:
This was the way to change the world: by becoming a planter.
A planter of magical stories, sowing words, cultivating images, harvesting wonder, watering imagination.
And so stories began to grow and spread.
Then?
The child pruned with love, gifting bouquets to passersby—
Bouquets of peace, hope, strength, and faith in the impossible.
Bouquets of small miracles, for each and every one.
Every spring, on the second of April,
the stories the child had sown set the world ablaze with bloom.
Oh, and through the gardening workshops, reaping wisdom was passed on to young and old alike.
And the child’s garden became the Garden of Hope,
the courtyard, the Courtyard of Wonders,
as the magician always held his ground—
unspooling red threads of storytelling into the breeze.
Elena Pericleous estudió en la Academia Pedagógica de la Universidad de Chipre, y posteriormente obtuvo un máster en Educación Ambiental (M.Sc.) en Londres. Ha sido directora de escuelas de educación primaria y es miembro activo de organizaciones educativas y ambientales.
Colabora en prensa, de forma habitual, escribiendo artículos a la vez que preside IBBY-Chipre. Además, es vicepresidenta segunda de EDEK, miembro del Buró Político y del Comité Central del movimiento.
Sus principales intereses y acciones más importantes están relacionadas con el medio ambiente, la igualdad y la justicia social. Ha colaborado con Green Dot y el Municipio de Strovolos, y ha publicado abundante material ambiental y educativo.
En el ámbito literario ha publicado dos libros en donde aborda la temática del abuso sexual, en colaboración con el Movimiento Socialista de Mujeres, cuyas ganancias fueron donadas a la asociación Hope For Children. Tiene otro en proceso de publicación sobre la ruptura de estereotipos y la igualdad. Tal y como cita en la autobiografía que aparece en su web personal, participa de forma voluntaria y sin ánimo de lucro en acciones para cultivar el amor por la lectura y promover la literatura.
Por su parte, la ilustradora Sandra Eleftheriou estudió Artes Gráficas y comenzó a trabajar como ilustradora en el año 2004. Desde entonces ha colaborado con distintas editoriales y obtenido numerosos galardones, como el Cyprus National Prize for Illustration (en seis ocasiones); o su inclusión, en la 2012 IBBY Honour List, representando a Chipre.
También fue nominada al Hans Christian Andersen Award en 2020, o a los Madame Figaro Women of the Year Awards, en la categoría "Creators category" (en dos ocasiones). De igual forma, ha participado como miembro del jurado en los Premios Nacionales de Ilustración de Chipre y Grecia.
Aparte de su labor como ilustradora, también ha recibidio el Premio IBBY de Chipre por "From the City I Come", en coautoría con Fytoula Vakana. Su obra "El Regreso del Príncipe Perdido" fue galardonada por la Organización de Teatro de Chipre, y su libro "El Guardián de los 8: El Comienzo" recibió el Premio Nacional de Literatura Juvenil de Chipre.
En 2021 lanzó sus primeros libros escritos e ilustrados: "The Teacher Hates Me!" (Metaichmio Publications, 2021) y "You Are a Star!" (Metaichmio Publications, 2022).
