Canal Lector is part of Fundación Germán Sánchez Ruipérez, an innovative initiative that began in 1981 under the leadership of publishing house ANAYA’s founder, Germán Sánchez Ruipérez himself. The creator who gave the foundation his name, set the non-for-profit objective of promoting reading and literacy in the Hispanic world, focusing especially on children and young adults.
Fundación GSR combines multiple technological and cultural projects that work together towards the development and progress of the literary world. One of their largest operations is Canal Lector, a service for teachers, parents and librarians that provides articles, interviews and resources, covering topics from how to organise computers in a classroom to setting up a personalised library at home. Nevertheless, Canal Lector’s scope broadens further to include interviews with the field’s top professionals, coverage of conferences and the latest news on the effects of cutting edge technologies in literature. Thanks to its modern and confident outlook FGSR has been able to create Apps and carry out e-reading research projects, whilst simultaneously keeping up with its readers, interviewing their favourite illustrators and authors and making them available on Canal Lector, via ‘Conoce a tu escritor/ilustrador’ (Meet the author/illustrator).
Likewise, Children’s Literacy Lab is dedicated to the diffusion of these articles for the Anglophone world and once again, seeks to provide resources and ideas for teachers and librarians –working with Spanish language books- to encourage and promote reading, from the earliest ages through to adulthood. This page is a portal to Spanish Canal Lector, as well as Fundación GSR’s other projects. As a whole, FGSR’s project of encouraging and promoting reading keeps it constantly at the top of its field, thanks to its new up-dates, conferences and progressive research and development projects.
