While all the above methods can be etvicfefe if done correctly with testing, tracking and tweaking, the reason I say text messages trump them all is in the numbers. Most direct mail has an open rate / read rate of 1-2%.Email typically is 5-10%. I know people like Owen who are adding massive value to their list may have 30-40% but that is quite rare. OWen care to share what yours is?)Text message have a 97% read rate with 90+% of them being read within 15 minutes. What else can come close to that? How often to you re-read a postcard or Valpac mailing from the local pizza shop? Most mail gets filed over the round recycling bin.How many promotional emails do you actually keep, let alone re-read a week or two later? Probably very few if any. While that may be no different with text messages, the goal with any of your marketing should be to engage, add value and make it something that your customers will stand up and take notice, even going so far as sharing with their friends. You can do that easily with a text.
